From 6-10 October 2025, the O-Week will take place for all new students at Paderborn University. The programme is aimed at all first-year students (Bachelor's and Master's) and includes a campus tour, subject introductions and help with timetabling to make the start of your studies easier. The orientation days begin on Tuesday, 7 October with the central Freshers Welcome Ceremony in Paderborn. You will also have the opportunity to talk to Melissa Maria Korbmacher, student advisor for musicology, at the UPB on Wednesday, 8 October between 13:00 and 15:00 and between 15:00 and 17:00.
On Friday, 10 October, you will also have the opportunity to get to know the musicology department directly on site in Detmold (Hornsche Straße 39, 32756 Detmold), where the majority of musicology courses take place. If you are travelling from Paderborn, you are welcome to meet the student council at the main station to travel to Detmold together. If you live in Detmold, you can come directly to the musicology seminar at the start of the O-Day. We look forward to welcoming you as new students to Detmold!
The exact programme for the introductory event on 10 October for musicology is as follows. October for musicology is as follows:
- 12:00 h Meeting in front of the station hall at Paderborn station with the FSR and the first-year students
- 12:21 h joint journey to Detmold with the RB 72, arrival at Detmold station at 13:00 h
- 13:30 meeting at the Musicology Seminar with all students and the FSR
- welcome by the FSR and round of introductions
- approx. 14:00 h Small campus tour of the Musicology Department and the HfM Detmold
- 15:00 h Welcome by the head of the department
- Introduction to KoMo/PANDA/Paul and application for a second student ID
In addition, the official opening of the musicology semester will take place on Wednesday, 15 October 2025 at 16:00 h in the seminar room at Willi-Hofmann-Str. 5. All students are cordially invited! There you will have the opportunity to get to know other MuWi students as well as the lecturers and staff. In addition, there are often representatives from career counselling, musicians' health, etc. on site, so it's worth being there!
